Bess Cap Classique Nv - Single

Dainty Bess Cap Classique NV is a beautifully delicate, small-production South African sparkling wine created by Jane Ferreira-Eedes. The project began in 2009 with Pinot Noir from her family's tiny vineyard at Klein Optenhorst in Wellington, and takes its name from one of her mother's favourite rose varieties.

Part of the Chardonnay is fermented in seasoned 600-litre Stockinger barrels, with the remainder in cement, while the Pinot Noir is whole-bunch pressed and fermented in stainless steel. The finished wine then spends 19 months on the lees, developing its fine mousse and lovely creamy texture. Tasting Notes Colour: Delicate pale salmon pink.

Nose: Bright and expressive with fresh citrus, intense raspberry and fragrant rose petals, followed by a subtle touch of spice. Palate: Vibrant and wonderfully fresh. Raspberry and citrus fruit are carried by lively acidity and a fine, elegant mousse, while extended lees ageing brings additional texture without sacrificing the wine's delicacy.

Finish: Crisp, dry and refreshing with lingering red fruit, citrus and a gentle floral character.
